last night in san francisco's ingleside heights neighborhood. investigators say it's being considered accidental. firefighters say when they arrived just after 8:30 p.m., flames and smoke were pouring from the windows at the house on st. charles avenue. the fire appears to have started in the kitchen and spread to other parts of the house. the body of the woman who lived there, 61-year-old dean burnett, was found on the second floor of the pumping house. her neighbors say they are shaken by her death. >> i was there and i seen the firefighters bring her body down. they put her right there by the garage. i was there. nobody told me anybody. neighbors asked me was that dean andy confirm it was dean -- and i did confirm it was dean. >> reporter: firefighters put the -- >> firefighters put the fire out within a half an hour. the cause of the fire is under investigation. >>> san jose police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who killed a pedestrian last night. the collision happened around 5:45 near white and quimby road. police say the victim was crossing the street when a dark suv or v

los angeles has been hit by a 6.7. what will los angeles do if they hear san francisco has been hit by a 7.2? what will we do, where will you be, all those people who work for you, do they know their azuped place, do they know where to go? do we in the military understand your roles and responsibilities? do we understand how to integrate into your chain of command? do we understand how to communicate with you? do we understand what we have and how we can bring it to bear with you? do we not want the after action report after the next nightmare scenario it read, we failed to utilize some of the capabilities we had inside and outside our life line. the american people are expecting us to get it right. they are not expecting perfection, they are not expecting huge gaps. they are not expecting some of the missed cues and gaffes that occurs in the gulf port area during katrina. they expected us to learn from that and indeed we have. i caution you again, we are not prepared, we are not prepared for the next nightmare scenario, but we can better prepare ourselves every day with the

reporter anne makovec is in san francisco right now watching for this morning's king tides along the embarcadero. >> reporter: good morning. i feel like singing a blondie song. the tide is rising and it could hit the bottom of the pier by the time we're expecting to see 7-foot tides which is just before 10 a.m. let's take a look at the numbers today what we're expecting at the golden gate as we climb to that 7-foot tide at 9:45, then going back and rising to 5 feet again around midnight. we'll probably see a lot more of this. this is the connector ramp from 101 to 1 in marin. now this kind of flooding normally only happens when there's a storm, but this was caused by the so-called king tides. there is a group right now trying to document these seasonal high tides to figure out where we stand when it comes to rising ocean levels. >> the california king tides help to us visualize the dramatic tidal reefs that we're already experiencing. >> reporter: king tides are not caused by global warming. they are caused by gravity. the earthed, moon and sun in position to cause the high tides

in connection with the bizarre san francisco murder case. the victims were found bound, gagged and beaten on a city street. one later died. cbs 5 reporter linda yee tells us they knew their attackers well. >> reporter: yes, they did, liz. four women and one man were picked up early this morning at a house in hercules. now, police believe that the suspects did dump their two victims here in this visitacion valley neighborhood and they call this case so bizarre, it could only happen in the movies. now, the man and the women were beat n up and tied up. one of them was shot, left on the street early sunday evening. information police said led them to the five suspects who had been in hercules at the time. they are a 32-year-old san francisco woman and a 21-year- old oakland man both of them charged with murder. the three other suspects, a 19- year-old, 22-year-old and 24- year-old women from hercules have been charged with accessory to murder. investigators say the victims did know their suspects. >> it was established that there was an expensive relationship between the victims -- extensive
